$2.9 Billion and Growing
The amount of non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in 2003
- reported by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
|
The Medical Spa Industry is one of the largest healthcare movements of recent time. As the baby boom generation ages, they are doing everything in their power to look and feel their best. The Medical Spa industry incorporates non surgical and noninvasive medical cosmetic procedures in a salon atmosphere. The demand for professional, medical beauty procedures, in a luxurious spa setting, grows each year.
Gross revenues for Medical Spa services exceeded $2.9 billion in 2003 and the market continues to expand.

The top five non surgical cosmetic procedures delivered in Medical Spas include: Botox®, Laser Hair Removal, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peel, and Collagen Injections. Other popular treatments are IPL Acne Therapy, Restylane®, and Laser Vein Removal.
As demand for medical beauty procedures increase, the number of spa's and facilities to meet this demand is not keeping up. According to the International Medical Spa Association, of the 6,000 spas in the country, less than 400 are truly
Medical Spas.
The medical beauty trend is growing year over year among women and men and spreading into suburban areas. From 2002 to 2003 all non surgical cosmetic procedures increased 22%. Botox injections increased 37% and Laser Hair Removals increased 25%. Non surgical procedures have increased 430% from 1997 to 2003. With the advance of new non-invasive technologies we anticipate this trend to continue.
