Botox® Phoenix
Throughout our lives, we laugh, we cry, we smile, we frown. These emotions are all an integral part of the wonderful process called life. We simply cannot avoid them, nor would we want to. However, as the flush of youth begins to fade from our faces, the toll that these facial movements take on our skin really begins to make itself known. We may not be ready for a procedure as invasive as a face-lift but still, wouldn't it be great if we could recapture some of that youthful glow?
Luckily, there is a quick and non-surgical procedure that can help you do just that. Botox® Phoenix is an easy and almost instant way to look younger and more refreshed. Botox® Phoenix is a purified form of the toxin that has been successfully and safely used to treat neuromuscular disorders for more than 10 years. In recent years, it has been approved for cosmetic use to help reduce the appearance and sagging skin and wrinkles, as well as helping in the prevention of new wrinkles.
Some commonly asked questions
How is Botox® Phoenix different from Restylane?
Botox® Phoenix injections are used to actually relax facial muscles, which not only smoothes out wrinkles, but also helps prevent new wrinkles from forming. Botox® Phoenix is highly effective in minimizing forehead creases, deep creases between the eyes, and crow's feet, whereas Restylane injections can be used to fill in wrinkles and scars, contour the face, and add fullness to thinning lips. Your licensed aesthetician will determine the best treatment for your skin.
What can I expect during a Botox® Phoenix treatment?
A typical treatment takes about 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas the client wishes to have injected. You will be asked to frown and smile so that the licensed practitioner can determine which muscles in your face are used the most. He or she will then inject each appropriate site with a very thin needle and syringe containing Botox®, which relaxes the muscles in which it is injected. In most cases there is very little pain involved in Botox® Phoenix injections. However, there are some clients who are more sensitive than others, in which case a numbing cream will be applied before treatment begins. No advance allergy testing is necessary.
How long will the results last?
Each client is different. Some clients need only 1-2 touch-ups each year, while others require slightly more.
Am I a good candidate for Botox® Phoenix injections?
If you are someone who is beginning to notice that your skin is not quite as youthful as it once was, then you are an excellent candidate for Botox® Phoenix injections.
How does the skin look after it has been treated?
Typically, the skin is a little red and pinpricked, but only for a short period of time. Of course, this varies from client to client, depending on their skin type and the extent of the treatment. Most clients return to their normal activities immediately following treatment.
How soon will I see results?
A few clients notice a slightly softer, smoother appearance immediately following a Botox® Phoenix treatment, while most clients see significant improvement in a few days to two weeks.
Is the treatment completely safe?
Botox® has been safely used in the United States since 1989 to treat neuromuscular disorders of the eye, and was approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2002. As with any injection site, adverse reactions are possible but rare. The most commonly reported side effects are headache and bruising at the injection site, which is generally minimized when proper technique is used. Occasionally, Botox® may cause a temporary drooping of the eyelids. Again, this unlikely side effect is minimized when proper technique is used, and will generally subside in a few weeks.
Is it possible to avoid the "frozen face" look?
Yes. Improper injection technique and the overuse of Botox® are the typical causes of the "frozen face" look. At Physicians Skin Institute, Botox® Phoenix is administered only by highly qualified and licensed medical practitioners with extensive experience in the practice.
